The plan

On the interview outfit:

I am going to put together about 3 outfits, ranging from formal (the dress) to casual, cute and sassy, make sure they are ALL clean and ironed, and decide on the day which makes me feel more confident. To which end I have decided to go jeans shopping on Saturday. Eeek! I hate jeans shopping with a passion, but it'll be worth it to have a nice pair that fits.

On the adoption fun:

The adoption orientation is this Saturday too. I am convincing myself again that it is pointless to even put myself on the list this year because I can't possibly adopt while at school. Which is stupid, as of course I'd take a maternity leave for the first semester and I'd figure out the work/school situation somehow. I can work from home if necessary with just an occasional trip to the office, so I'm sure it would be doable. Somehow. Except, the panic level rises up again and makes me wonder what the hell I have been thinking.

Oh well, first things first. Go to the orientation. It might even take me a year to be able to attend the parenting course because it might not be at times that I can make. So I might not go on the list for a while and then who knows how long it'll take to get to the top of the list of the people that are waiting for a healthy infant.

Oh, and anyone watch House yesterday? Cuddy's lawyer says it is easy - become a foster parent and adopt new baby left by dying teenager... so it must be easy in real life, right?

go to the orientation. You could be on the list for a long time... and you'll be killing yourself for waiting.

I like the idea of having 3 outfits at the ready & deciding on the day.

As for the signing up and the orientation- well TOTALLY sign up. Heaven knows how epic the wait will be. sigh...

And TOTALLY thought of you watching House. I am bummed about the Cuddy story line in general. Which sucks because she is so awesome. But her stopping IVF after one cycle?

I am so so so excited about the orientation and can not wait to hear how it goes! Just 3 more days, right????

Seems like a good plan :) I imagine (not that it matters) that the Cuddy adoption is likely being supported by the families, which in most states would make a difference, I think. I think there's no harm done in going to the orientation, and I think you'll make it work if you have a placement in a week, a month, or a year.

3 outfits is a great idea.

Definitely go to the adoption orientation. I'm a bit of a romantic, so I think of it as your baby is out there (okay maybe not yet conceived) waiting for you to find him/her. If it's meant to be, it will happen.

On the other hand, I'm also a realist who knows it can take years to adopt a baby so why not start now? (Hmmm, maybe I should do this, too).

I loved House last night but had the same thought as you - just a call to your lawyer and suddenly you are adopting an abandoned baby? yeah, right. My BF absolutely hated the storyline.

NO! And House had been doing so well with that storyline. Why do I think that "unethical adoptions" are the next thing to mess with Cuddy? I mean, the writers like to make all the characters suffer - Wilson losing his love last season, for instance.
