Good news/bad news

The good news is that I have no cysts.

The bad news is that the tech only counted 7 antral follicles - 3 on the right and 4 on the left.

And of course, had to mention how gassy I was. I don't know what it is with this tech - if she's not telling me I'm gassy, she's telling me that my bowels are full. Enough already, I get it. Next time maybe I should just trump in her face and tell her that that should make the picture clearer.

Oh well, I guess I'll fall back to the old "quality not quantity" mantra. I won't pretend I'm not disappointed. In fact, I'm downright depressed about it, but maybe just maybe the week of estrogen priming that I'm about to do will allow a couple more to pop up (please?).

ETA: Crap, crap, crap. It's 10.53am and I just realized I didn't do my cetrotide shot this morning. My routine was all messed up because of going to the RE's, and I just forgot. Damn. OK, off home now.

ETA again: Managed to do the shot about 3.5 hours late. I've emailed the nurse just in case there's an issue (with being on only half the normal dose, I don't know if the timing is more critical than normal). But seriously, ugh. The day is not starting out well.

Sorry to hear about the antral count. Dang it all. And what's with that tech? Um, bowels either have stool or air in them. It's the nature of the organ. What exactly are you supposed to do about that. She's a big freak.

I'm hoping for a few more contenders to pop up for you. Hugs.

I also have around 7 antral follicles and I have to admit that hearing that was quite a disappointment. In the end though, I got 5 mature eggs and assuming you get at least that number and that they fertilize okay (which mine didn't, but that's another problem that I'm sure you don't have), you'll have enough for a nice transfer. :-) I'm worried that they don't plan to give me any estrogen this second time, though. What exactly does the estrogen do for the egg development?

YAY for no cysts!! That is great news!

I'm sorry you didn't get what you were hoping for. I hope these are of excellent quality and all mature beautifully.

That tech sounds horrible. I once had a doctor comment on how full my bladder was. I blatantly told him if he hadn't kept me waiting so long, it wouldn't have been. He shut up. Things like that just aren't necessary. I expect a higher level of decorum from these "professionals"

Hurrah for being cyst free!

As for the antral- I have every faith that more will pop up just to spite the lame-O u/s tech.

Seriously- what a lame thing to be obsessed over. Bowels. freaky tech.

OK that tech gal is definitely a weird one!

Congrats on no cysts!!! ;o)

Antral counts do not really determine how many eggs you will have. Mine was not too high either and I was left with many to retrieve.

Keep your chin up Sarah! :o)

Not a great start to a Monday. Hope you get more follies when you start stimming.

Don't understand what your tech is doing. I say fart on her next time and say, "Ooo, you were right, I am gassy!" Cow.

Hi Sarah -

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed this morning.

I have to check, but I think on my last cycle I only had 3 per side, but you may remember that I ended up with my best "crop" of mature eggs. This despite the fact that it was my lowest antral count eva.

I think there is a huge variance among techs - some just look harder.

So don't count your eggs before they've hatched!
